COLLECTIVE 402
Onur Tayranoğlu _ Amanda Hunt _ Tina Jeranko _ Tangmo Ladapha Sophonkunkit _ Yun-Chen Chang
Collective 402 is a group of seven interdisciplinary artists who first came together in room 402—a shared classroom and studio—during their MA studies in Live Art and Performance Studies at Uniarts Helsinki in 2021. Since graduating, they have remained connected across distances, and Marked Intervals marks their first return to working together in person.
*For this occasion, five members of the collective are participating in the project.
For seven days, flat1 becomes a site of shared authorship, experimentation, and accumulation. This process-based performance and exhibition unfolds in real time: not as a series of polished works, but as a collective practice made visible. It is a return to the spirit of 402—where learning, trying, failing, shifting, and making all happen in the same space.
The title, Marked Intervals, draws attention to what happens between events—those uncertain, charged moments that follow a gesture or decision, when things are still taking shape. A ringing bell punctuates each gathering, framing time not as a linear progression but as porous, repeatable openings.
Throughout the week, the artists present four public performance acts. Each one adds to what came before—materials, arrangements, conversations, and rituals build up and layer. What remains is not a fixed installation, but a living imprint of the time spent together: raw, messy, and in motion.
Marked Intervals invites you to enter a process that does not necessarily seek a final destination, but becomes material in its own right—and, perhaps, the artwork itself.
Interval 1
Sunday, 24 August 2025, 20:30–21:30
Artists Onur Tayranoğlu, Amanda Hunt, Tina Jeranko, and Tangmo Ladapha Sophonkunkit reconvene in person for the first time since their studies at flat1, joined remotely by Yun-Chen Chang. You are invited to witness their first hour of reuniting.
Interval 2
Tuesday, 26 August 2025, 16:00–19:00
In this three-hour durational performance, the artists form a living fountain, referencing Vienna’s tradition of public water monuments to raise the production fund of the project. Bring coins to make a wish and support the artists!
Interval 3
Wednesday, 27 August 2025, 15:00–17:00
This is a participatory performance: You are invited to gather at 15:00 at flat1. Using the funds collected at Interval 2, artists invite you to walk together to nearby grocery stores, sharing stories about their favorite foods and collaboratively selecting items for Interval 4.
Interval 4 / Opening
28 August 2025, Thursday, 19:00 – 22:00
You are invited to the performance of the opening, Interval 4; this is a shared feast to gather, mingle, and feed each other.
29 & 30 August 2025, Friday + Saturday, 16:00–19:00
EXHIBITION: MARKED INTERVALS
The exhibition remains open to visitors to engage with the residues of the process-based performance.
WHO IS 402?
Collective 402 is a group of seven interdisciplinary artists who first came together in room 402—a shared classroom and studio—during their MA studies in Live Art and Performance Studies at Uniarts Helsinki in 2021. With members from Turkey, Thailand, the USA, Finland, Iceland, Taiwan, and Slovenia, 402 works at the intersection of performance and interdisciplinary art. The collective continues to evolve through experiments in shared authorship, resource exchange, and sustainable support structures beyond institutional settings.
In August 2025, five members, Onur Tayranoğlu, Amanda Hunt, Tina Jeranko, and Tangmo Ladapha Sophonkunkit reconvene in person for Marked Intervals at flat1 in Vienna, with remote collaboration by Yun-Chen Chang. The invitation was facilitated by Jeranko, following her 2024 traineeship at flat1.
