Von ihrer Angst, nicht als „hyper femme lesbian” gesehen zu werden, bis hin zu ihren unrealistischen Traumjobs, nimmt sie das Publikum mit auf eine Reise und bringt das Camp zurück ins Camping!

Tackling topics such as Claire’s reality TV addiction and her pathological fear of the natural world, DYKE HIKE pitches the idea for the perfect new queer dating show, while revealing intimate layers of the performer’s life. From her fear of not being seen as a hyper femme lesbian, to her unrealistic dream jobs, she takes the audience on a journey and puts the camp back in camping!

I remember a breakthrough moment I once had in therapy: my therapist told me: “You need to be less harsh on yourself and stop comparing yourself to others.” I immediately thought to myself: “She’s so right… I’m so stupid. I bet other people are so much better at not comparing themselves with others…”

My name is Athanasia, and I struggle with imposter syndrome. This might seem like a small problem compared to the consecutive crises happening in the world right now; COVID-19, wars, the rise of the far-right globally, all in the backdrop of the looming climate catastrophe. But in my head, they are somehow connected. I have this theory that if we all managed to find a bit of peace with ourselves, the world would turn into a more peaceful place. So, I find it urgent to turn inside, and, as difficult as they might be, I try to stay with my feelings.

Then, I share them with my close people, or through my art. I like to tell personal, vulnerable stories, through combining confessional lyrics, a unique musical language, and a bit of humour. I think of vulnerability not as weakness, but strength, and a powerful tool to help us all connect.

So, this show is about things like severe imposter syndrome, suffering from good girl syndrome, and wondering whether I can’t fall in love again because I’m broken inside, or is this too because I don’t think I’m good enough?

I am aware that singing about not feeling good enough to sing makes for a strange song. But, hey, this is one of the very few perks of the fact that the world as we know it is coming to an end. I think we can just skip the pleasantries and be honest with each other, right? Weniger

Nach dem großen Erfolg von Krõõts Stand-up-Set “Minor Crimes” beim Kultursommer ’24 kehrt Krõõt jetzt mit einem brandneuen Set mit dem “Titel Major Crimes” zurück.

Major Crimes behandelt Themen wie Menschen gefallen wollen, Weinen, Menschen verwirren, bedeutungslose Lügen erzählen, Denken, Träumen, Eltern, Kind, Held und/oder Bösewicht sein; sowie (das Versagen), sich selbst so zu sehen, wie man ist.

Mit trockenem Humor, Autorität und Leichtigkeit führt Krõõt Juurak, der vor 2 Jahren sein Stand-up-Debüt beim PCCC gab, das Publikum charmant durch eine Dramaturgie der Emotionen von Langeweile zu Aufregung, Traurigkeit zu Freude und wieder zurück.

KRÕÕT JUURAK inszenierte Konflikte am Arbeitsplatz, performte für Haustiere oder ließ ihrem einjährigen Kind Regie führen. Als Choreograf:in und Performance- Künstler:in neigt Krõõt Juurak zur Selbstsabotage, verheddert sich allzu gern in der Peinlichkeit des Moments und glaubt mehr an die Dramaturgie des Versuchs als an dessen Gelingen. Vor einiger Zeit hat Juurak das Genre der Stand-Up-Comedy für sich entdeckt, doch auf die Pointen warten wir bei Juurak manchmal etwas länger. Aber vielleicht funktionieren der Auftritt und sein Witz, auch wenn sie gar nicht lustig sein wollen? Denn Krõõt beherrscht die große Kunst der komischen Unbehaglichkeit. (Wiener Festwochen)

Bio: Krõõt Juurak, 1981 in Tallinn geboren, ist Künstler:in, Performer:in, Stand-up Comedian und Tänzer:in. Juurak studierte Tanz und Choreografie bei ArtEZ, Arnhem und am Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam.
