Kunst-Forschung-Geschlecht - Jamika Ajalon, Marion Porten: Ready to Rumble?!

Veranstaltungsort: Hörsaal 4, Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien (Altbau, 1. Stock)

READY TO RUMBLE?! is a Live-Talk-Performance including posters, photos and videos.
The presentation will take approx. 60 minutes and invites the audience to actively participate in our dialogue.
READY TO RUMBLE?! is a complex body of different works which have their starting point in our re-enactment of the famous poster of Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol. Jamika Ajalon was carrying this idea for a long time. During our discussion and work around Harriet Tubman the idea came back to her, and she asked Marion, if they would start this project together –
READY TO RUMBLE?! deals with issues of creating a queer space of allies by acknowledging differences within. As Queer women ourselves – we are both playing with gender and sexuality by deconstructing socially and politically ascribed roles – we at the same time deal with black and white feminism, the agency of Women of Color, intersectionality and the (in)visibility of racist structures among feminist movements in history and present time. We also examine the problematics of Critical Whiteness.
In our live-talk performance we talk about our own challenges and questions and discuss those relevant topics with the audience. We are trying to create a queer space for agency, forming allies and asking questions.

Jamika Ajalon: Inter-disciplinary artist fortunate enough to have collaborated with many brilliant creatives across the globe. Mediums include written and spoken word, sound, and photography, ?lm, video, text, and music. JAMIKAAJALON.TUMBLR. COM
