Isa Rosenberger: Landschaftskunst. Landschaft und öffentlicher Raum
Expositur Paulusplatz 5, Seminarraum 2.Stock, 1030 Wien

In her artistic work, Isa Rosenberger is particularly interested in political upheaval and both its social as well as economic consequences. In order to engage with social and political developments she enters into a communicative exchange with contemporary witnesses she interviews about their personal experiences and perspectives upon recent historical events. Thereby her interlocutors not only become protagonists in her work, but also - to an extent - co-authors time and time again. Combining these documentations with fictional content the resulting works never remain merely in the field of a theoretical debate. This strategy points to the fundamental question of the construction of reality and, specifically in this context, the power of images. Rosenberger explores the relationship of internalised, ?mental? images as well as medially communicated images with the aim of constructing different, alternative stories and interpretations of history and the present.

Isa Rosenberger (born 1969) lives and works in Vienna. Rosenberger studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. Solo exhibitions include Espiral, Grazer Kunstverein, 2011; Edith Russ Site for Media Art, Oldenburg, 2009 and Secession, Vienna, 2008. Group exhibitions include Bergen Assembly, 2016; Into The City I Wiener Festwochen 2015; Lenin: Icebreaker, Austrian Cultural Forum, New York and LENTOS Kunstmuseum, Linz, 2014, and 5th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, 2013; It?s The Political Economy, Stupid, Pori Art Museum and Austrian Cultural Forum, New York, and Thessaloniki Centre of Contemporary Art, 2012;
