Thick Sections: Gas Works Park & Rich Haag

A history of Richard Haag’s creation of Gas Works Park reveals a
paradigm shift in the imagination of urban public landscapes. The post
industrial urban landscape holds a powerful legacy in the 21st century
city. Such sites are toxic, poisonous, and associated with the worse
of industrial excesses and waste. Historically we have hidden such
sites as wasted places. More recently we have sought to open such
landscapes, transforming them into public parks.
