Manuel Pelmus: Remediations Event
Artist talk / Workshop (in English)
In the framework of the series “VERHÄLTNISSE”
Organised by Nathalie Koger
In cooperation with the Seminar ?History will Repeat Itself? - Art of the 20th century IV by Felicitas Thun-Hohenstein, Academy of Fine Arts Vienna
Alexandra Pirici and Manuel Pelmus represented Romania at the 55th Venice Biennial in 2013: they formulated their contribution as an experience, transformed objects into actions. In ?An Immaterial Retrospective of the Venice Biennal? a group of performers were revisiting the history of the Biennial, repeatedly, every day, and translated previous contributions where personal and collective memories were tickled. In this presentation and demonstration Manuel Pelmu? remediates their approach, their process, their realizations and their experiences with their counterparts and companions.
Manuel Pelmu? is a choreographer from Bucharest. He has had numerous gallery and museum exhibitions, most recently his projects were shown at, a.o., Tate Modern, London, Tate Liverpool (2016), Ludwig Museum, Cologne (2016), Off-Biennale Budapest (2015), The Kiev Biennale, Kiev (2015).
