Art & Science - Richard Eigner: Sonic Strategies for Short Films Event
This workshop will explore location recording techniques and introduce you to equipment that is accessible and easy to use. All audio variables that might arise during a shoot will be explained, including; microphone polar patters, sampling rate and bit depth, wind shields, and affordable specialist tools such as hydrophones and contact mics. We’ll also look at post-production options to improve dialogue and location sound recordings, such as; how to use panning, equalization and reverb to full effect. The goal is to strengthen your understanding of sound design (ambience, foley), silence and music as a dramaturgical element in film post-production.
