We are in conversation with Sung Tieu, who will talk about her recent work on technologies of psychological warfare and the semantic dimensions of immigration bureaucracies, as presented in two concurrent solo exhibitions last year: Zugzwang at Haus der Kunst, Munich and In Cold Print at Nottingham Contemporary. Drawing on both extensive archival and autobiographical material, Tieu discusses the relationship between the personal, different modes of research and their fracturing through art and exhibition-making.

Sung Tieu is an artist based in London and Berlin. Forthcoming solo exhibitions include Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst, Leipzig and Kunstmuseum Bonn (both in DE, 2021). Forthcoming group exhibitions are for refusal at Transmediale (DE, 2021); Ars Viva 2021 at Kunstverein Hannover (DE, 2021); INFORMATION (Today) at Kunsthalle Basel (CH, 2021); Taipei Fine Arts Museum (TW, 2021) and Though It’s Dark, I Still Sing, curated by Jacopo Crivelli Visconti, 34th Bienal de São Paulo (BR, 2021).
