Talk with @toolsforaction + Floor

Eine Veranstaltung der Abteilungen Social Design und Ortsbezogene Kunst

Tools for Action + Floor is a collaboration between the Dutch-Hungarian visual artist Artúr van Balen, founder of Tools for Action and the Dutch choreographer Floor van Leeuwen. Since 2020 they do participatory projects on the intersection of visual art, performance and activism.

ZOOM ID: 455 161 7763
Tools for Action is an artist group and functions as a collaborative platform by giving open-source skill-share workshops on how to make inflatable sculptures and use them for political actions. Inflatables are floating and light-weight tactical tools, ideal for sending political messages, disrupting scripted forms of protests or blocking streets. Tools for Action has been working with social movements, schools, universities and theatres around the world on different issues: climate justice, anti-fascism, trans* visibility and civic engagement.

Floor van Leeuwen has a background in mime and is a co-founder of the physical theatre collective Schwalbe. Her work is characterised by research in collective movement. Her style is minimalistic and energetic; a seemingly simple act can find a poetic depth in the duration and interaction between individuals.

In Choreography of Assembly, both artists will present their past works and talk about their upcoming project ræv rehearsal*: how to come together, dance and ´reclaim the streets in times of COVID-19.
