Lectures for Future: Ulrich Brand

Why is it so hard to tackel the climate crisis? The imperial mode of living
A lecture by Ulrich Brand (University of Vienna)

Ulrich Brand, Professor of International Politics at the University of Vienna, will elaborate on his concept of “The imperial mode of living” (“Imperiale Lebensweise”). His keynote will be complemented by two practice-oriented commentaries: The ERASMUS-funded KAUZ initiative creates educational activities and materials based on the concept, and Hansel Sato (Academy of Fine Arts, Institute for Education in the Arts) provides an insight into translating the concept in his own artistic work.

The event is part of Lectures for Future (L4F), an interdisciplinary lecture series that aims to foster the discourse on the climate crisis and other sustainability-related topics within and beyond academia. At the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the L4F are hosted by Maximilian Muhr and Carlos Toledo.
