Textiles in motion
A presentation of electronic textiles from the innovative @Lab created for the home, the
office, the theater and the outdoors. The work brings together
traditional craft techniques, such as weaving, folding, cutting and
smart technologies to create prototypes that can be manufactured
locally in a sustainable manner.
SARAH BONNEMAISON is associate professor of architecture at
Dalhousie University in Canada. Her research areas include cultural
landscapes, temporary urbanism, lightweight and tensile structures and
installations. Her written work includes, Architecture and Nature:
Creating the American Landscape (Routledge, 2003), Installations by
Architects (2009) and was the editor of Festival Architecture
(Routledge 2008). She is currently heading the @Lab with textile
artist Robin Muller, to research electronic textiles at the
architectural scale.
She has a doctorate in human geography from the
University of British Columbia and degrees in architecture from Pratt
Institute and M.I.T.
