Der Film ,,Protest Match” entstand im Zuge des russischen Sozialforumgs, das gleichzeitig mit dem G8 Gipfel 2006 in St. Petersburg stattfand. Von den Behörden ins Kirov Fussballstadion verlegt, war die Veranstaltung starken Repressionen und einem permanenten Druck von polizeilicher Seite ausgesetzt. Im Vorfeld wurden Aktivisten bedroht und verhaftet, die Zureise war durch massive Polizeikontrollen verhindert.
Das Fussballstadion mit seiner architektonisch starken Formsprache aus den 50ern ist der Hintergrund für eine Serie von Interviews mit politischen AktivistInnen aus Russland.
Trotz ihrer scheinbaren Verlorenheit in dem riesigen Stadion liefern die wenigen Verbliebenen ein inhaltlich starkes Dokument über Meinungsfreiheit, Widerstand und politische Zusammenhänge.

The Film ,,Protest Match” was produced during the Russian Social Forum running parallel to the G8 Summit in Saint Petersburg at Kirov Stadium, in July 2006. Before it opened the Russian security service hold an operation “Barrier”. In its wake more than 200 forum delegates from all over Russia were detained on their way to Petersburg.
Before the forum began, activists where blackmailed and arrested for handing out leaflets. The authorities did their best to make sure that even minimal participation
in the forum would seem risky.
The strong stadium’s architecture from 50th plays a symbolic background for the tiny group of activist who build a camp inside it. The film covers the situation that has happened at the stadium during Social Forum discussed with a series of interviews with leading and ordinary Russian political activists.

Drei Mütter erzählen über ihr Leben. Nach dem Prinzip der griechischen Tragödie kommentiert ein singender Chor ihre Monologe. Die SängerInnen repräsentieren Archetypen der modernen (russischen) Gesellschaft. Ihre Stimmen sind die verinnerlichten Erwartungen und Idealbilder von ,,Mutterschaft” Der Film der russischen Künstlerinnengruppe analysiert diesen sozialen Druck vielschichtig und aus mehreren Perspektiven.

Three mothers tell about their lives. Citing the form of greek tragody, a singing choir comments their storys. The singers represent archetypes of modern (russian) society. Their voices are like inner expectations and Ideals of ,,motherhood”. This film of the russian feminist Artistgroup ,,Factory of found cloth” analyses this social pressure in a multi perspective way.
