Artist Talk Nichole Sobecki Event

Photographer Nichole Sobecki shares her personal journey to create photographs and films that demand consideration for the lives of those represented – their joys, challenges, and ultimately their humanity. Early in her career Sobecki documented the complex realities of war and contemporary health stories. Today she focuses on humanity’s fraught, intimate, and ultimately unbreakable connection to the natural world. Most recently, she has turned her lens to document the unfolding impacts of the climate crisis in Africa through two projects: Where Our Land Was, which investigates the human consequences of significant environmental change in Somalia, and Forest Guardians, which explores the vital role the Congo Basin plays in the ecological balance of our planet and those fighting for its future.
