Halyna Andrusenko: Protected Event
PROTECTED series, which depicts sculptures wrapped in protective material in Ukraine. The impact of the threat of bombing on the appearance of environment. The protective material which the sculptures are wrapped for the purpose of preservation seems to regenerate them, making them look like new art objects. There is a transformation into new forms in which the image of war appears.
HALYNA ANDRUSENKO was born in 1992. She lives and works in Kyiv. In 2018, she graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv. As a member of the Faculty of Monumental Painting, she received a Gold Medal for her diploma project painting ‛Tower of Babel’. In 2021, she graduated from the Kyiv Academy of Media Arts as a member of the Faculty of Artists. Halyna is the author of artistic paintings of the symbolic synagogue ‛A place for reflection’ in Babyn Yar.
In 2022, her paintings ‛Neptune’ & ‛Amphitrite’ from series ‘Protected’ was accepted into the 59th La Biennale di Venezia art exhibition, pavilion ‛Piazza Ucraina’. Now in her artworks, Halyna explores the reflection of war on the form of things.
