The spatial distribution of this exhibition is the first trace of the manifest dialogue between the creative processes of the two artists,
Diana Barbosa Gil (1990, Cali - Colombia) and Miguel António Domingues (1982, Lisbon - Portugal)
An important factor to consider for the event of this exhibition: the geographical (dis)location, a common reference to the two artists -,
they met each other in Lisbon, the city where the atelier is shared - as a space for the materialization of this meeting and, consequently, of this exhibition.
DGB’s sculptures encourage us to look closely, from the floor, ceiling, wall and from the tension between the materials that physically connect them.
Hanged and streched, based on fishing material, ornamented with props and mass produced goods from China, or then coming from the ground up,
we see subversive ceramics emerging, manipulated and adorned either with haute couture fabrics or with molds of religious anatomy.
The surfaces of MAD’s drawings – paper, wall or cardboard – are the first evidence of these actions, such as stretching, laying,
distending or perforating. Among this combination of gestures, we highlight two that sharpen our perception because they are antagonistic:
the laying down and the penetration.
Which impact have these flows on the development of their artistic work, on the definition of “home” or “identity” as catalysts of the works?
What are the common artistic sensors between these works that (…) make us shed the contemplative tears?
Is this the cause and effect we feel when we open ourselves to the world (and the onion)?
