After having joined Cage’s new musical world of sounds, the toy piano opened up the whole toy box to professional musicians.

In this programme, the audience member listens to the toy piano playing with a curious and diverse collection of toy instruments and, at the same time, remembers, in part, being a child. This breaks up the distance between past and present and reminds all of us – audience, composers and performers − that “the essential nature of all musical activity is play”. (J.
