We are delighted to welcome you to the solo exhibition The World In Between by Slovak visual artist Olga Pastekova. The works shown in this exhibition include Olga’s firepaintings on wood and an object and will be on view on the ground floor and on the 3rd floor of gallery. Following the opening and artist talk on March 16th the exhibition will be on view from March 17th until April 29th 2022.
About the exhibition:
Submerged amusement parks, headless mermaids and animals roaming in this dystopian landscape are part of Olga Pastekova’s pictorial creations. Fascinated and at the same time critically perceived remnants of the capitalist leisure industry, which the young Slovak artist works for in real fun parks that have been abandoned or have been devastated by natural disasters, such as the “Spreepark” in Berlin or the “Six Flags” park in New Orleans, the victim of Hurricane Katrina discovered himself. In Pastekova’s comic-like panels - mixed techniques of acrylic glaze painting, woodworking through engraving and fire painting - fauna and flora reconquer the former places of heightened artificiality. The exhibition title “The World In Between” refers to this intermediate state, to the unstoppable process when man leaves the places he has created to themselves and thus to nature.
Please note that visiting of the gallery is compliant with the valid pandemic rules in Vienna and that FFP2 mask is required.
