Laura Schawelka: Volatile Event

For there is a hint of fiction in every fact and a bit of reality in every fiction, Laura Schawelka utilizes photography’s editing capabilities to examine the correlation between real and fake. Her latest works explore alternative narratives in the production of fine replicas and their value. Higher definitions bring better means of reproduction of textures and features. There’s no longer a distinction between fakes and originals, as long as it looks good on camera.

This exhibition is part of the festival program of FOTO WIEN. Concurrently our neighbors Collectors Agenda are inviting to the opening of Word Pieces - dedicated to Paul Hutchinson’s more recent interest in the interweaving of text and image in his photographic works.
