The photographic works by Sophie Tiller and Katharina Manojlovic confront us with different images and representations of nature. By examining ideas of the “natural” and the “artificial”, they show once more how ambiguous these categories actually are.
Starting from the exploration of artificial flowers at cemeteries, the works of Katharina Manojlovic open up spaces of memory and examine the role of photography in their (re-)construction.

Surreal, staged scenarios form the basis of many of Sophie Tiller’s projects, which she has been developing over long periods of time. In her Better than Nature (2020) series, real plants enter into a symbiosis with artificial ones by using plastic plants as climbing aids.
