The pandemic has provoked a disruption in the economic, the geo-political, and psychological domains. In recent months, we have all slowed down, stayed in silence, been trapped with ourselves, claustrophobic at times. In this situation of collective vulnerability and shared exhaustion, in which strict regulations strongly affected our communal behaviour, we want to concentrate on our being-together again. For this years’ edition we want to reflect on the relation of touch, sonic experience and the feeling of connectedness, however fleeting the communion might be. Sound is not an intangible phenomenon. It cracks bodies open, turning them into fields of intensities. There exists a sonic tactility - with sound having a direct, corporeal impact, engaging with our tactile and haptic senses. Sound resonates in our bodies. It is affecting us at a distance, putting our bodies into vibration. It strikes the body’s skin, flesh, and bones. Thus, sound can evoke touch. It is surrounding and passing through us, binding bodies together, teasing them into motion, turning them into a vibratory field of volume and frequencies. In the chaos of now, we want to concentrate on those sonic communities induced by touch.

Please be early, as there is limited capacity!
Unsafe+Sounds wants to investigate the interrelatedness of the fundamental changes in our environment and aesthetics, and look for apt noises for our disturbed existence. We gather workers from the musical frontiers to find some medication for this pathological time. We believe these are to be found in the poetics of catharsis and physical affection in neurotic, transgressive, tender, psychoacoustic and obscure approaches.
