Elizabeth Ward und Frans Poelstra – Elizabeth and Frans do dance/talk

Elizabeth Ward (US/A) and Frans Poelstra (NL/A) previously performed together in Michikazu Matsune’s performance “All Together” and Poelstra’s video production “this body of stories – the lockdown version” (https://brut-wien.at/de/Programm/Kalender/Programm-2021/01/Frans-Poelstra). While working on those two productions they found out that they shared a mutual love for dance and a rather comparable education in post-modern dance. Also, besides actually really ‘dancing’ together, they also enjoyed talking about it. And so, while their studies took place years and an ocean apart, it is this shared commonality that leads them in developing a dance performance busy with the intersections of their historical and present experiences of dance. Through the informal setting of the summer stage and their disarming stage presence, Elizabeth and Frans offer an insight into practices and experiences of two international artists who have been working- with conscious conviction- on the fringes of the experimental dance and performance scene. In “Elizabeth and Frans do dance/talk” they are not only physically busy with dance, but also enjoy thinking and speaking (in English!) with and about dance.
