The new Collaborative Comic Zine from Angewandte Students & Alumni
Wo: Galerie Schleifmühlgasse 12-14
Was: Ausstellung | Pop-up Shop | Launchparty
The project “SICC.Zine” is an experimental zine with positions by artists from a wide variety of disciplines. What happens when artists get sick? Is the topic given the appropriate respect? How do artists work in confined spaces? The participating artists have the opportunity to publish their personal interpretation of sickness. It doesn’t matter what sickness it is. Whether physical, psychological or fictional.
The publication offered a starting point for the participants to work on a small personal project in COVID-19 isolation. It loosened up everyday zoom-life and let you forget the absurdity of reality for a little while. We chose the medium of print as a substitute for cancelled exhibitions and forbidden networking events, to give a platform to artists while respecting the strict rules in an exceptional situation. Now that the restrictions have loosened and we are allowed to come together, we want to use this new platform we have created with the help of Die Angewandte, ArtIst and the STVKuGe to present a few selected works by participating artists alongside the first two editions of the publication. The selected works represent the contrast of working in confined spaces while expressing the desire for freedom and recklessness.
