Floating Sound Gallery—the pioneering unit for experimental multichannel music in Russia. Devised in Moscow in 2008 outside of institutions, since 2013 it homes in the Alexandrinsky Theatre, St.Petersburg.
Floating Sound Gallery invites to experience the actuality of multichannel setups for music art. Whereas ubiquitous spread of computer technologies facilitates the process of creating electronic music immensely, its proper auditorial presentation leaves much to be desired.
The latter directed Gallery’s focus at two internationally accepted formats—octophony (regularly) and Acousmonium (annually); as for the former, the training programs of the New Media Laboratory were launched in 2015.
Floating Sound Gallery screens internationally produced works that can’t be performed otherwise. For its first Vienna show, we present pieces of the New Media Laboratory students:
Vronihof:
Phillippe Guzeev, Extra, 2017 / 04’33”
Polina Orlova, Vagus nerve irritation, 2019 / 03’02”
Anton Kvitchuk, Acousmatic etude, 2019 / 02’44”
Anton Kvitchuk, Shell, 2019 / 05’49”
Modul:
Vera Bezrukova, Listening to a horse, 2017 / 08’25”
Dmitriy Antropov, Black Lodge, 2017 / 04’28”
Olga Zubova, crackles, 2019 / 03’42”
Olga Zubova, somewhere, 2019 / 03’17”
