Amir Shariat is opening a curated exhibition of the Hungarian artist Tamás Hencze (1938-2018), whose artworks are present in the mumok collection.
Tamás Hencze was a Hungarian painter whose technical abilities were legendary and his quest for ultimate abstraction and minimalism relentless. Influenced by artists such as Soulages and other op-art painters during his early Parisian sojourn, Hencze returned to Budapest. He was one of a select group of artists to exhibit at the IPARTERV I (1968) and IPARTERV II (1969) shows in Budapest, alongside other luminaries such as Imre Bak, Endre Tót and Ilona Keserü. Hencze is a recipient of the most prestigious Hungarian art award, the Kossuth Prize.
