Thomas has been recently awarded with the BNP Paribas Foundation Award “New Heads”, which consisted also of a solo exhibition at Musée des Beaux-Arts Le Locle, Switzerland, held from November 2018 to January 2019.
Liu Le Lann is a multidisciplinary artist whose work focuses on an attempt to invalidate masculinity and to highlight the progressive characteristics of meekness and passivity.
He represents both his fiance´s and his own uncertain genders through sculptural works, paintings and self-fiction poems. In his recent works the artist has introduced the figure of the “soft hero”, which aims to convey the deconstruction of the dominant heroic model and its bulky representations.
For his first solo exhibition at Vin Vin, Thomas Liu Le Lann will develop a body of works inspired by the XVIs century martyr, Stanislaus Kostka, who the artist got to know about while traveling in Rome and visiting Sant´Andrea al Quirinale church.
i’m not okay will be a lyrical and intimate universe built through emocore nostalgia, despair, self-mutilation, the artist´s boyfriend and zombie defense knives.
