studio das weisse haus cordially invites you to the 10th edition of Wednesday with… on January 23, 2019, 6 pm at Hegelgasse 14, 1010 Vienna. Oscar Cueto (Studio Artist) introduces his project MUME 2, which is hosted by studio das weisse haus within its Short-term Residency Program.

Throughout the year the “Mexican Museum/Museo Mexicano (MUME)” located at Oscar Cuetos studio presents projects of Mexican based curators and artists. The program seeks to generate parallel narratives to the official history. Morover, it brings the “ideal” conditions for an exhibition space into question.

“The Butterfly Effect: Notes for a Possible Fiction” curated by Andrea Torreblanca de la Sierra (Curator in Short-term Residence 2019) is the first project in the framework of MUME 2. The opening is on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, 6 pm. It will be followed by a conversation between Oscar Cueto and the invited curator about the exhibition project, which began as a personal quest to find the first female museum director in America. The genuine, fictional and nomadic museum MUME is the perfect setting to replicate an itinerant “Bragg Box”, ornamented as a Baker House with a “skin” that uses the pattern of dazzle warships to contain multiple stories. The museum-studio-box-house is thus set as a mise en abyme, where all facts or fictions can be seen, connected, forgotten or become invisible within an imagined place.
