Open Mic available to everyone who feels live enough to take it. Don’t matter what you do or how you do it.

In collaboration with Gartenbaukino’s timely retrospective honouring the legacy of filmmaker Spike Lee, Series:Black has curated a supporting program to underscore the unique perspective that his work continuously brings to the Black New York experience.

Series:Black, founded by Adia Trischler and Tonica Hunter, is a malleable sequence of events, that deal with spatial and cultural awareness.

The initiative is an ongoing exploration and artistic confrontation of nationalistic borders, that provides an opportunity for empathy and communication.

During this Spike Lee Tribute, Gartenbaukino will be host to the various elements of this supporting program, including a vinyl cover exhibition, panel discussion, DJ sets, and the amateur night in the style of Harlem’s legendary Apollo theatre.

Gartenbaukino and Series:Black invite the public to join us this September as we bring ‘Crooklyn’ to Vienna.
