João Castro Pinto

João Castro Pinto is a Portuguese artist interested in the art of composing silence with sounds.

He studied Philosophy at the New University of Lisbon and is currently finishing his Ph.D. dissertation in Computer Music @ U.C.P. / C.I.T.A.R. - Research Centre for Science and Technology of the Arts.

João Castro Pinto?s sound work ranges between: soundscape composition, dense droning, noise, electroacoustic, acousmatic, tape music & experimental electronic genres. He plays live electroacoustic music, with and without instrumentalists, as tape music / spatialization concerts.
