The Meandering Line Event

A series of events will be happening at Schneiderei during the project “The Meandering Line”.

The Meandering Line groups 8 artists who have crisscrossed paths in Vancouver and elsewhere for the past 15 years and more. Wallas Gwy Yum/ Beau Dick, Mireille Kassar, Jeneen Frei Njootli, Isabelle Pauwels, Bernadette Phan, Jayce Salloum, Matt Smith and Etienne Zack have diverse backgrounds, affinities, art practices and obsessions. Marking time and noting change at the different speeds one experiences on a daily basis, leaves an impression that each artist has evolved in. Particularities encompass patterns of reflections and actions, quirks and concerns; individual, societal, historical, environmental, political – to name a few. This exhibition filters a gentle spectrum of light on our singular percepts, visual and auditive, by reflecting onto one another and projecting out to the viewer as the guests of honor. To follow the beam, one would draw its own trajectory of intentions and non linear sensorial receptions; browsing the surface or diving in, one is invited to be guided by one?s own curiosity and interest. The Meandering Line also antagonizes the confinement and marginalization of artist spaces by traversing with fluidity the grid-like ever developing urban landscape of Vancouver, with the help of independent curated exhibition venues, such as CSA, who will be hosting Schneiderei in December 2016.
