Public Lecture
This year?s SLIVER lecture series ?Architecture or Revolution? (?It is a question of building which is at the root of the social unrest of today: architecture or revolution?, Le Corbusier) depicts positions to the instantiated power structures inherent to the discipline of architecture and its potentials, or its inability to respond to the ongoing global oppositional ideological developments and resulting humanitarian crisis, shifting frontiers and crisis which expresses itself within our immediate built environments.
Reinier de Graaf is a partner at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), where he heads the work of its think tank AMO, leading various projects to demonstrate the wider relevance of architectural thinking beyond building. De Graaf teaches at UPenn and has also been involved in the founding and curriculum development of The Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design, where he has led AMO’s research on the Megacity. De Graaf frequently publishes on Dezeen and various other news outlets, coining in 2011 the term Megalopoli(tic)s©.
