Spencer Chalk-Levy was born and raised in New York City and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelors in Fine Art from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.
He currently works in Vienna and New York. His work confronts conventional ideas of beauty and the grotesque, much in the same way as the high fashion world looks outside aesthetic norms to find its models. He draws inspiration from old masters and reality TV shows. Also he delves into exploring new pictorial and symbolic languages. Recent experiments into new techniques, digitally woven tapestries, bring the ancient medium of narrative wall tapestries into our modern age
