I moved on until I went back

The exhibition is based on a cooperation with BLOCKFREI Curators and is showing works by students of the Angewandte.

The artists shown in this exhibition are:

Sebastian Gärtner, Maria-Magdalena Ianchis, Mira Klug, Philipp Kruder, Lisa Kuglitsch, Olena Newkryta, Philipp Renda, Jana Rinchenbachova and Katrin Weidhofer.

According to Jean Louis Delotte, the inscription of an event becomes a matter of taking place, a trace of memory. In order to claim its existence such event should be found in time and place. Hence, memories develop a personal landscape that may be traced.

The exhibition I moved on until I went back brings together artists whose works explore landscape as an expanded idea. As dynamic processes that are shaped over time or as personal experiences, sites record traces that later on are evoked and imprinted in our mind.

The title of the show is a direct reference to a typographical work with the same title by the artist Katrin Weidhofer, who is participating in the exhibition. The assertion ?I moved on until I went back? conveys a personal experience in which the remembrance of an event generates movement – an inner transformation that may alter the memory of the event itself.

The Lichthöfe A and B of the University of Applied Arts in Vienna will host the exhibition I moved on until I went back. The opening will be on October 30 at 8 pm and the show is going to be on view until November 6, featuring works by emerging artists. Among them, a performance by Sebastian Gärtner will take place at 9 pm on the day of the opening.

This is the final project of the residence programme Curators? Agenda: Vienna 2015 held by BLOCKFREI Association. The exhibition is organized by nine international curators:
