Materialized information Transfer in the post-Internet Era
Mobile galleries travelling across Europe
ANGELA KAISERS (D)
The installation ‘BALD’ is based on six popular fairy tales collected by the brothers Grimm and discusses the transfer of stories, knowledge and morals. Additionally it takes a critical stance against the way women are portrayed in these narratives. For the fairy tales were travelling bundles of information and showcases of cultural heritage, mostly but not only national. When analyzing the content of the six chosen fairy tales (The Frog King, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood) it becomes apparent that the basis for all of them is a state of ?waiting?. For something, for someone or for an event. In ‘BALD’ Angela Kaisers breaks down the stories’ contents, reduces them to this notion of waiting and thereby highlights and criticizes the moralistic and gender stereotypical elements they purport. With its play on words the title of the installation introduces the artist’s thematic and conceptual approach: the German word ?bald? (English ?soon?) is associated with waiting for something or someone whereby the English expression ?bald? means direct, blunt.
CONTAINER ART INSTALLATION
August 20th until October 20th 2015
@ Boxircus Salztorbrücke
@ Loft City I BROTFABRIK WIEN
Site-specific and non-specific, a conflict between information reality and virtuality, global versus national culture and central Europe as an equal part of the European Union.
These are the themes of that international exhibition project Contain[era] that will take place in 2015 in 8 European countries. 8 shipping containers will be turned into moving galleries, each providing space for a multimedia installation of one European emerging artist.
From 20th August 2015 these unique exhibition spaces will circle throughout Europe round Prague, Bratislava, Warsaw, Budapest, Roma, Zurich, Berlin and Vienna. By virtue of different cultural influences in each destination, every exhibition opening will provide a unique experience, an implantation of the container within a specific local environment.

?One of the ambition of the Contain[era] is to materialize the mode of information sharing which we have become accustomed to in the post-Internet era: we constantly unplug content and implant it somewhere else, sharing is the beat of our generation? specify the project initiators.
The mobile galleries will represent closed-up information capsules, presenting artistic perspectives of different national heritages in weekly cycles. After visiting all destinations, eight containers will gather in the organizing city on Prague symposium and following two weeks exhibition.
