Der in der Installation projizierte, experimentelle Animationsfilm zeigt die abstrakte Untersuchung eines 35mm Films durch Makrofotografie auf Super 8mm Film und reflektiert über das Filmmaterial anhand einer Bildsprache, die aus Manipulationen der Emulsionsschicht entstanden ist.

Die durch handgemalte Schichten auf 35mm Film, optisches Kopieren und händische Manipulation der Filmbeschichtung erzeugten Bilder wurde auf Azetatfolie übertragen und mittels Makroaufnahmen durch Glasspiegelungen auf Super 8mm re-animiert.

Canada-based artist and filmmaker Madi Piller is artist in residence in the Museumsquartier Vienna by invitation of ASIFA AUSTRIA for April and May 2015. Born in Peru Madi looks back on a large number of film-, animation- and other artistic works. Besides being specially interested in analog film and the specific quality of this material Madi is also familiar with most modern media features: One of her latest projects is made for Oculus Rift glasses.
Madi Piller is an excellent networker who likes to engage in group projects like TAIS - Toronto Animated Image Society.
On April 29 2015 she is going to give an overview of her artistic work and discuss and dissect the rationale and techniques behind her films and her current installation FILM ON FILM in the Asifakeil.
