Culture and Democracy in the Digital Era - Hopes and Threats

“Digitalisierung” ist das Schlagwort der Gegenwart. Sie wirkt sich massiv auch auf den Kunst- und Kulturbereich aus und zwar sowohl auf Produktion und Distribution als auch auf Rezeption und Teilhabe. Mit den veränderten Zugangs- und Partizipationsbedingungen gehen grundlegende Umbrüche des demokratischen Systems einher.

“Culture and Democracy in the Digital Era - Hopes and Threats” lautet daher das Thema eines hochrangig besetzten Diskussionsforums.

Diskutieren Sie gemeinsam mit den führenden ExpertInnen der europäischen Kulturpolitikforschung, mit Kulturschaffenden und politischen EntscheidungsträgerInnen die zentralen Fragen: Wie haben sich Kunst und Kultur durch Digitalisierung verändert? Wo liegen die Möglichkeiten, wo die Gefahren? Welche Folgen hat sie für die Inhalte, die Funktionen und die Wirkungen von Kunst und Kultur? Wie wirkt sich Digitalisierung auf demokratische Prozesse und die Wahrnehmung der BürgerInnenrechte aus?

Der Anlass für diese Veranstaltung in Kooperation mit dem bm:ukk ist die aktuelle österreichische Präsidentschaft im Ministerkomitee des Europarats und das heuer in Wien stattfindende AutorInnen-Treffen der “Compendium-Community”. Das Compendium www.culturalpolicies.net ist ein Internetportal des Europarats mit 42 kulturpolitischen Länderprofilen. Die österreichische kulturdokumentation bearbeitet seit 1998 das österreichische kulturpolitische Profil.
