Final Day and Vernissage of RECAPITULATE - William “Bilwa” Costa
RECAPITULATE
After spending almost 2 months in Vienna, collaborating with various artists in performances, concerts and public art actions, William “Bilwa” Costa will inhabit the „Schaukasten“. For 5 days Bilwa will use the „Schaukasten“ as his atelier and will collaborate with artists: Jasmin Schaitl, Christian Konrad Schröder, and Margaret Unknown; to collaborate with him using materials and ideas generated during his time here.
Bilwa
William “Bilwa” Costa is a sound and visual artist who works in both the performing and visual arts contexts. Improvisation and collaboration with dance, sound, and visual artists are essential elements of his work. He works internationally, generating research/ lab/ performance projects and actively cultivating opportunities for artists to work together on new interdisciplinary experiments. Bilwa is a founding member of the working groups Perpetual Movement Sound and Intercontinental Collaborations.
Bilwa has performed, led workshops, and been a guest lecturer in North America, Europe, and Australia. His most recent projects include: sub_space, an improvisation structure for dance, visual, and sound performance, which premiered in February 2013 at 100° Festival, Berlin; sound/map, a collaboration with visual artist Aya Imamura; and resonance, an ongoing research and performance collaboration with Martín Lanz Landázuri and Emily Sweeney.
