What if you wake up one day and realize: You have been feeding into a cliché. Worse: You have uncounsciously been feeding into a cliché, because what once was subversive or at least unusual, became a cliché. And then all these other questions pop up: What does it mean to work with male connoted material as a woman? How does one position herself in this practice? Is it valid to work on typical female subjects? Do women inevitably contribute more to the female discourse? Does the artist’s appearance affect the way people look at her art? What happens if the female assumes the hitherto male point of view when looking at herself and her image?
