Presented by Nicolai Ouroussoff in The New York Times as the « cult figures in the European architecture world. », Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoine have founded the research and creation platform Bêka & Partners with which they develop the dual activity of filmmaking and publishing. They mainly focus their research on experimenting new narrative and cinematographic forms in relation to contemporary architecture. The uniqueness of their work holds on their subjective, creative and humoristic look at masterpieces of architecture portrayed through the depiction of their daily life.
Following the film « Koolhaas HouseLife », greatly reviewed by the international press after its presentation at the 11th Venice International Architectural Biennale, they developed the film series « Living Architectures » composed today of 7 films : « Koolhaas HouseLife », « Pomerol, Herzog & de Meuron », « Gehry’s Vertigo », « Xmas Meier », « Inside Piano » (B&B, IRCAM, Fondation Beyeler).
Their films have been presented in many international cultural institutions such as MoMA New-York, Centre Pompidou (Paris), Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Barbican Art Gallery (London), CCA (Montréal, Québec), NAi (Rotterdam, NL), SAM (Basel, Switzerland)…
