Frank Robert - Kap der Guten Hoffnung / Still Lifes

Frank Robert´s second exhibition at anika handelt Galerie offers an unusual and contemporary approach to the genre of still lifes. In his studio, Robert constructs a minimalistic, ivory-coloured tableau (a table top, a wall, flooring) which serves as the foundation of all his motives. The artist takes all liberties: from the very beginning, the series comprises installations, portraits and stagings in addition to still lifes.

The studio as counterpart to the blue box: not an uncommitted space serving as base for the perfect deception but a factual room where surreal visual concepts interlace with reality. Photography arrests time but time just runs on.

Frank Roberts zweite Ausstellung in der anika handelt Galerie zeigt eine ungewöhnliche und zeitgenössische Herangehensweise an das Genre Stillleben. Robert konstruiert in seinem Atelier eine minimalistische, elfenbeinfarbige Bühne (Tischplatte, Wand, Bretter), das Fundament all seiner Motive. Der Künstler erlaubt sich jegliche Freiheiten, von Anfang an gehören neben klassischen Still Lifes auch Installationen, Porträts und Inszenierungen zur Serie.

Das Atelier als Gegenentwurf zur Bluebox: Kein neutraler Ort, an dem die perfekte Täuschung stattfindet, sondern ein tatsächlicher Raum, in dem sich
surreale Bildideen mit der Wirklichkeit kreuzen. Fotografie hält die Zeit an, und die Zeit läuft einfach weiter.
