With visual art, you can glimpse the edge of your own blindness. (…) it is the material as such that absorbs my interest, in its capacity as a trail of possible parallel investigations that can be used, perhaps, as bearing marks in relation to that which cannot be understood. Martin Erik Andersen
The work by Martin Erik Andersen can be perceived as an open-ended process of renegotiating the relationship between materiality, thinking, body, and space. An attempt to dissolve the way our rational minds put things together by means of displacement, inversion, and rupture. His work does not involve external thinking, determining the visual expression. On the contrary, it represents a processual space of exchange, within which thinking takes place in terms of a floating negotiation between matter and mind.
