Place-Making Politics in Contested Cities. Lectures and Roundtable Event
Upon the fierce competition between cities and regions, topdown and bottom-up
cultural strategies have been deployed for urban and image regeneration. With
reference to flagship cultural landmarks, the advocacy of public art and the
use of other cultural apparatus for urban development, international speakers
will discuss the problems and perspectives of current place-making practices in
city regions both in Europe and Asia. Another focus will be on alternative
place-making strategies through community-based projects and art interventions.
