The Passion of Phrike*

For her first solo show, Lisa Maria Wordcel was in the mood to put her passion on display. The word martyrdom comes from ancient Greek and means »the one who remembers«. In her early years, while jumping in a bouncy castle, Wordcel experienced a powerful sensation whose origin she never fully understood. She began building a replica of that sensation, taking something seemingly trivial and blowing it up to a reasonable size.
Descending the red painted, creaking wooden staircase into the exhibition space of Zink, the visitor will see a handful of aged paintings paired with abstract titles, and leave with a souvenir in hand.
