Paolo Monti is an eclectic Italian composer, active in the European experimental scene for fifteen years with the drone/ambient/post-rock project The Star Pillow.
The project was born in December 2007 with the aim of researching expressions and relationships between sound, space and human emotions. He has released many albums for some of the most important ambient and experimental labels (Time Released Sound, Boring Machines, Midira Records, Dissipatio). He continuously plays around Europe and abroad on long tours and in important festivals (Le Guess Who ?, Donau, Jerusalem Design Week, Moving Noises, Gaudeamus, Kukemuru). He also works as a composer for Cinema, for TV and institutions.
In recent years he has been dedicating much of his research to the development of a sound language in contemporary art and dance by working in performances and installations with the visual artist Aldo Giannotti and the Austrian choreographer Karin Pauer.
He is a member of the deep drone project DAIMON, together with Simon Balestrazzi and Nicola Quiriconi.
He is part of the dreamgaze / doom / ethereal quartet Bosco Sacro together with Julinko and Tristan da Cunha, released in February 2023 by Avantgarde Music.
He collaborates with the writer and singer Marco Rovelli (Les Anarchistes) with whom he reinterprets songs from the italian anarchist tradition and love serenades from the popular tradition in a contemporary key.
