Studio offbeats 6.0: Sarah Rechberger/ Patrick Schabus - Fortified Clouds

The Journals of NYOM is an electronic music group, based around Patrick Schabus and Sarah Rechberger. They are situated between the liminal space of drone, techno and spoken word. Rechbergers Glossolalia and Schabus Stories are intermixed in their performances, in which they dress up with textile artworks and sculptures created by the two artists. In this instance they will perform a set of spoken word compositions situated in a fictional universe in which a new mode of transport has brought different people to a foreign place called “Hexwyrd”.

SARAH RECHBERGER studied photography, architecture and multimedia art at the University of Applied Arts in her home town Vienna, and perfected her knowledge at the Institute for Spatial Experiments at the Berlin University of the Arts. So far, she has participated in several solo and group exhibitions in museums, galleries and festivals, both at home and abroad. In addition to visual art, she is also engaged in performance art.

Patrick Schabus’ work focuses on history, exploring issues of fictional lineages, especially as they affect current political and socio-economic policy. His projects range from journals, curatorial projects, to video and installation all situated in an science-fantasy universe called Banéscht . Those projects are research-driven studies that reference the past to show how and where it still casts shadows on the now. He is currently the publishing director of The Friendly Facts a curatorial platform
