For our penultimate show of the year, we are proud to present Ana Viktoria Dzinich “Guradian Angel”. During her residency, Ana immersed herself in the most Viennese of things: Freud, Imperial Austria & the aftermath of failure and memory. The video work has been premiered at the Schinkel Pavillon last month in August. The film traces the journeys of three central angels who navigate the remnants of their pasts, while being drawn into an uncertain future, just like Paul Klees Angelus Novus. The central thematic is how one engages with the emotional terrain of enduring harm, revealing the complex interplay between personal experiences and broader socio-historical forces. The blending of narrative fiction with a theoretical discourse foregrounds the ongoing tensions between individual subjectivity and the collective historical narratives - driven by personal self-narration and the fact that two opposing things can be true at the same time.
Join us this Thursday at the opening for the newly commissioned installation “Spectator of Ruin Angel of Vision” with new and old works from her “Liberal Trauma Trophies” and “Conservative Distress Display” series.
