The word unveiling triggers a lot in my mind, as I grew up with the stories of my grandmother of how they threw away their veils following the decision of the new Turkish Republic, which was founded in 1923, and how they went to the first celebration ball in pretty Charlston-style dresses that barely covered their bodies. A woman?s body is always closely connected to politics in my part of the world.
