Finissage + Talk: Complexity, Contradiction and a Decorated Shed

Smokers? safe haven, grumpiness as a behavioural pattern, national diet of beer, dumplings and other hearty foods - in terms of stereotypes Vienna and Prague are like two peas in a pod. In terms of artistic practices, institutional structures for contemporary art and neighbourly interest however, the corresponding scenes could not be more divergent.

To reflect and exchange on similarities, differences and contemporary relations between the Czech and the Austrian capitals as well as mutual interest and interests we invite you to join us for a talk with four guests representing a variety of positions in the Austrian and the Czech scenes on Friday the 29th of September at 8.30pm at Significant Other, Burggasse 24, 1070 Vienna.

Karina Kottová, Czech curator and director of the Jind?ich Chalupecký Society as well as founder of INI Gallery, Nicolaus Schafhausen, director of Kunsthalle Wien, Georg Schöllhammer, editor-in-chief of Springerin and head of tranzit.at as well as Franziska Wildförster, co-founder of Kevin Space will share their thoughts concerning the local scenes as well as the meaning and value they see in the relations between the former East and West.

The artists Josef Dabernig, Jimena Mendoza and Aleksandra Vajd will be present.
