Paula Strunden explores VR’s potential beyond its visual territory and explains how mixed reality objects can trigger an embodied cognition of being present at once in physical and digital reality. By presenting a series of 1:1 interactive models and experimental installations, VR will be discussed from a phenomenological perspective and examined for its potential to break the binary divide between actual and virtual worlds, between reality and imagination.
Based between Amsterdam and Vienna, Paula Strunden is an interdisciplinary designer and PhD researcher at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. She is the co-founder of Soft Bodies and Virtual Fruits.

Ali Eslami uses VR as a medium to imagine and create radical forms of space, time, and bodies. In this talk, Ali unpacks the thought process behind making o ‘False Mirror’, a Long-term research project that speculates a growing world where humans (or post-humans) live a completely virtual life.
