Topic: Feminism through the ages

Feminism through the Ages - a semi-spontaneous performance-oriented discussion, inspired by Voguing, on the various associations of feminism, and its intersections; as perceived to be framed from the voyeuristic gaze of Newton`s camera and therefore most of the audience, towards the ‘women’ on display at the exhibition.

Presentation of the self and representation by someone else are just a few aspects of female body politics currently contested in the arena of public opinion.
Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien invites the audience to be surprised and engage in a dialogue on contemporary discourse with the panellists initiating the discussion. They are feminists with different viewpoints of feminism and carry expertise at varying intersectional degrees that confront the commonly conditioned notions of (male)gaze, power, consent, appropriate behaviour, the role of women, sexual freedom and enjoyment, femininity and more.

Join the performance, engage in the discussion expressing your agreements, disagreements or neutral position in a firm yet amicable manner.

The entrance to the Newton Exhibition will be free starting at 18:00 on Thursday, 12th January ensuring inclusivity to all the audiences by removing the entry ticket barrier.
The discussion will be held in English, but you can participate in a language of your choice.
