Accessibility in Life, Art, and Wartime

On August 11 at 5 p.m. in the WEST Space gallery (Glasgalery) a special event will be held as part of the exhibition “It was very cold in the morning and the sun was shining incredibly bright”.

The special event will begin with a curatorial tour at 5 p.m. followed by a discussion at 6 p.m.
“Accessibility in Life, Art, and Wartime. Stories of the evacuation of people with disabilities during the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine”.

Discussion speakers:

Olexandra Nabieva — exhibition curator, Ukraine.

Viktoriya Luchka — Head of Accessible Cinema and exhibition coordinator, Ukraine.

Luibov But — activist, Ukrainian refugee in Austria, mother of a child with autism.

Christophe Dupont-Baggio - Programme Manager for the SocialWorkHUB Vienna, working on evacuations, re-settlement, and international projects in Ukraine towards refugees and people with disabilities.

The exhibition is also inclusive and accessible to people with disabilities. The basis of the multimedia exposition is the sociological study WARPATH.24.02.

Using multimedia artistic tools, the exhibition focuses on the diversity and multiplicity of our experiences, amplifies the weakest voices, and unfolds the stories of the evacuation of people with disabilities at different levels: audiovisual and narrative. It allows us to generalize and distinguish, to talk about commonalities and differences.

The main goal of the project is to draw attention to the needs of people with disabilities in Ukraine, which has been at war for nine years.
